The call for Cancer Foundation Finland’s travel grants is open from February 1 to February 28. Grants may be awarded for travel related to studies, meetings and presentations carried out during the period 1 March 2026 and 31 May 2027.

The grants can be applied for by cancer researchers and other healthcare professionals actively involved in the early detection of cancer diseases, the treatment of cancer patients and cancer prevention.

The Cancer Foundation does not grant separate travel grants to applicants who, at the time of application, have a grant awarded by the Foundation. In practice, this means that if an applicant has not received all instalments of their research grant by the end of the application period for travel grants, they cannot be awarded a separate travel grant. The applicant should have a legitimate reason to travel, such as a presentation or an important meeting in the destination. Travel grants will not be awarded twice for the same trip.

In 2026, the maximum travel grant comes to 1,900 euros for travel outside Europe and 1,100 euros for travel within Europe.

The Cancer Foundation does not award grants to researchers or research teams that are funded by the tobacco industry. The tobacco industry includes any company or group of companies that derives a major portion of its income from the manufacture or marketing of tobacco products.

Grant applications are submitted in the Cancer Foundation’s electronic grant application system. The grant application can only be submitted electronically.

Travel grants awarded by the Cancer Foundation may not be used for daily allowances (per diem). The travel grants are paid in a single instalment based on hotel bills, conference fees or equivalent original receipts. Make sure that the original documents display the currency.

Please include all your expenses in the invoice, even if the final sum exceeds the granted amount. Also indicate on the invoice if any other institution pays for part of your expenses. If the grant will not cover all travel expenses, we can, on request, provide a breakdown of the costs reimbursed by the Cancer Foundation.

Please note, that any changes to travel destination or schedule should be discussed with Cancer Foundation before December 31, 2026.

The application is processed ‘as is’, and it may not be supplemented after the call has closed.
