Travel grants 2024

Applications for travel grants are invited as of Thursday 1 February 2024. The call closes on Thursday 29 February 2024 (end of day).

Cancer Foundation Finland’s travel grants 2024

Cancer Foundation Finland is inviting applications for travel grants for travel related to studies, meetings and presentations between 1 March 2024 and 31 May 2025. The grants can be applied for by cancer researchers and other healthcare professionals actively involved in the early detection of cancer diseases, the treatment of cancer patients and cancer prevention work.

The Cancer Foundation does not grant separate travel grants to applicants who, at the time of application, have a research grant awarded by the Cancer Foundation. In practice, this means that if an applicant has not received all the instalments of their research grant by the end of the application period for travel grants, they cannot be awarded a separate travel grant. Priority will be given to researchers who are unable to receive funding from their employer for conference travel. Travel grants will not be awarded twice for the same trip.

In 2023, the maximum travel grant comes to 1,500 euros for travel outside Europe, 900 euros for travel within Europe and 700 euros for travel within the Nordic countries.

The Cancer Foundation does not award grants to researchers or research teams that are funded by the tobacco industry. The tobacco industry includes any company or group of companies that derives a major portion of its income from the manufacture or marketing of tobacco products.

Travel grants awarded by the Cancer Foundation may not be used for daily allowances (per diem). The travel grants are paid in a single instalment on the basis of a hotel bill, a conference fee or an equivalent original receipt. Make sure that the original receipts display the currency.

Please include all your expenses in the invoice, even if the final sum exceeds the granted amount. Also indicate on the invoice if any other institution pays parts of your expenses.

If the grant will not cover all travel expenses, we can, on request, provide a breakdown of the costs reimbursed by the Cancer Foundation.

The grant applications are submitted online in the Cancer Foundation’s electronic grant application system. The application form is filled in and submitted in the electronic system.

Applications for travel grants are invited as of Thursday 1 February 2024. The call closes on Thursday 29 February 2024 (end of day).

The application is processed ‘as is’, and it may not be supplemented after the call has closed.
